With all due respect to Giancarlo Stanton, Dan Uggla gets credit for being the first hitter to drill the Home Run Sculpture at Marlins Park.
Uggla’s 200th career home run Tuesday night made a loud bang when it struck the bright yellow sun in the center of the colorful feature — a 432-ft. shot off Chad Gaudin.
On May 25, Stanton connected off Tim Lincecum for a home run that landed in the base of the sculpture — in the fake cardboard water waves and short of the sculpture’s main elements of the marlin, flamingos and sun.
That home run measured 431 feet – a foot shorter than the estimated distance of Uggla’s sun-shot.
A list of the longest home runs so far this year can be found here.
